As part of the further development of Ngurra Kujungka and to continue to greatly assist in achieving the objectives of the communities, Ngurra Kujungka has ‘piloted’ the delivery of school holiday programs in both the January and April school holidays.
January saw programs delivered in Nullagine, Punmu, Warralong and Parnngurr followed by programs in Kunawaritji and Jigalong in April.
The purpose of the program is to offer school aged children a variety of sport and recreation activities, and also to encourage adults to develop their capacity with in their various communities that comprise the Martu population.
All programs have enjoyed strong participation, involving sport – basketball, swimming, football and softball, together with cooking and art.
With positive engagement in the program, Ngurra Kujungka believes the programs it has delivered have been successful and opened up many opportunities to engage more with each of the Martu communities.
